Here are some of the questions we have had from customers:
Is this leash for small pets only? We have successfully pulled a 3/4-ton truck with a SlinkyLeash. We also measured its breaking strength which was metered at 100 tensile strength before breaking. You would never want to pull that hard on your pet, as it would cause significant physical trauma.
How is this coil different from the dangerous coil lines of the past? This coil has no steel cord in the interior. If you needed to cut the leash for an emergency purpose, a strong pair of scissors would do the trick, thus freeing your pet from harm.
My pet is a hard puller; would this leash be suitable? SlinkyLeash is for pets that have mastered heeling, respect their handler, and are obedient. If your pet is hard to control, we suggest going back to the basics.
Is SlinkyLeash waterproof? Yes, it is waterproof.
Does SlinkyLeash remain flexible in cold weather? Yes. Some customers have noticed that in super-cold conditions, it can retract a bit slower.
Can I order a SlinkyLeash in a custom color combination? Say a different handle and coil combination than is featured? Yes, you can contact us via our contact page with your request, and we will create your special order. Depending on the quantity of the order or inventory of supplies, it can sometimes add time to fulfillment, but we will give you an estimated delivery time at the order.
Where is SlinkyLeash made and sourced? SlinkyLeashes are proudly made in the United States, and all our components are manufactured in the United States as well.
My pet is very sensitive; will this leash work well for them? We have had glowing reviews from pet owners who have sensitive pets or pets with sensory difficulties.
What is the size of the leash when it is contracted and expanded? SlinkyLeash is small but mighty. It weighs in at 0.3 lbs., or 5.3 oz., and is 6 inches long. Which makes it very convenient and portable; it's easy to put in a purse, bag, car side door, etc. When expanded, the leash stretches to approximately 6-7 feet under normal use, which allows your pet to explore but keeps them safe from getting too far away.
Won't this end up just a tangled mess? Just the opposite, the swivel of our hardware keeps it very tangle resistant. Additionally, the natural give and take of the coil keeps it up and out of the pets' legs, as well as the handlers'.
